Pastor Venessa Hughes

Pastor Venessa Hughes Pastor Venessa Hughes was born February 24th in Mount Airy, NC to William and Joan Hughes. She is one of six children - two girls and four boys. She has two children - Nichica Melton and Jimmy Flippen and three grandchildren Elijah Smith, Jurne Smith and Malachi Smith.
Pastor Venessa Hughes graduated from North Surry High School and Saint Leo University with a degree in Criminal Justice and Human Rssources. She has a vision to help youth who have found themselves in the system. "If we save one, we have helped!"
Pastor Venessa Hughes joined Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church when she moved to High Point, NC. She preached her inital sermon on October 6, 1994. While serving at Williams Memorial, she was assistant to Pastor Robert Williams, helped with the coaching the ministrial staff and taught Sunday School. She later received her ordination of Deacon from Bishop Charles Helton and Elders and Full Connection from Bishop Thomas Hoyt.
Pastor Venessa Hughes received her first pastoral appointment in July of 2008 at St. James C.M.E. Church, Chocowinity, NC and stayed at that church until July 2017. She was the Vice President on the Beauford County Pastoral Alliance from 2014 until 2017. She was assigned to Hamlet Chapel C.M.E. Church, Pittsboro, NC in July 2017.
Pastor Venessa Hughes serves as the President of the Board of Evangelism on the Durham District and as the Vice President of the Board of Evangelism on the Carolina Conference. She is the assistant to Bishop James Walker at the Carolina Annual Conference.
Pastor Venessa Hughes loves youth and young adults. She believes they are the present church, not the church of tomorrow and they need to be allowed the opportunity to add to the foundation of all churches. She also believes in worship and praise and the scripture Psalms 34:1 "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth."
